Dr Hussein Shivji, BSc (Cellular Molecular Microbial Biology), BSc (Dentistry), DMD

Dr Shivji graduated with honours at the top of his class from the University of Manitoba in 2000. His dedication to academic excellence resulted in numerous awards including the highly prestigious University Gold Medal for highest academic achievement, the Canadian Dental Association President's Award, the Canadian Academy of Periodontology Award, and the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology Award. He was also honoured by his graduating class by being selected valedictorian. 

Dr Shivji has been practicing in the New Westminster area since 2005 and has recently started practicing at the Asante Dental Centre's Yaletown Vancouver location as well. 

Dr Shivji is constantly looking to improve and takes numerous continuing education courses each year above and beyond what is required to continue practicing in British Columbia, to provide his patients with top notch care.  Dr Shivji looks forward to welcoming you to Asante Dental Centre and looking after your dental needs.

Dr Shivji speaks English, Gujarati, Kutchi, Hindi and Swahili and his interests include music, movies, volleyball, hockey and photography.  In his spare time, Dr Shivji volunteers as a coordinator for his community's literature centre, and enjoys spending time with his wife Sheazin.  

Dr Cindy Turin, BSc, DMD

Dr Turin completed her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Medicine degrees at the University of British Columbia.  She is the recipient of the Pierre Fauchard Academy Student Governors Award and the Dental Undergraduate Society Award.  During her time at the UBC, she served as a member of the Canadian Dental Association's student affairs committee, and participated in an oral surgery externship at Lincoln Hospital in New York.  She was also involved in a local school program to promote dental care to elementary age students.  These experiences have helped her develop a keen understanding and sensitivity to the needs of her patients. 

Since graduating, Dr Turin has practiced dentistry in the Kootenays and in Vancouver, performing a wide variety of procedures on people of all backgrounds.  In her spare time, Dr Turin enjoys running, cycling, yoga, cooking (and eating!), and enjoying the west coast lifestyle with her husband Mike.  She loves meeting new people and is looking forward to welcoming you to Asante Dental Centre.
